How the Roadmap course is changing my life for the better!

Welcome to Affiliate with Jackie! I am so very excited and grateful that you are here! Everyone has their own unique journey that has brought them to this potentially very pivotal moment and I wanted to share with you a bit about my own path in the hopes that you will be able to relate in some way.

My story centres around my relationship with money. I come from a loving, humble working class family where both my parents worked so very hard to provide for my two sisters and I. My parents could not afford many extras like expensive far away vacations, and they could not afford to save and pay for our university education. It was there that the seed was planted in my mind that no matter how hard I worked, I would never have money and eventually resigned myself to the fact that I would always have debt even if I got an education and worked hard, and thus, developed a negative relationship with money. In fact, my relationship with money was horrible. I treated it poorly: I didn't resepct it, I didn't care to learn about it, I didn't save it and I most certainly didn't invest it. I was very scared of money and avoided anything to do with it because in my mind, I did not deserve it anyway - I was unworthy. Fast forward to my married life and it did not get any better. It was not an equal partnership in any sense of word. Money in my marriage made me feel useless, stupid and insignificant. It was traumatizing. In 2009 the marriage ended and I became a single parent of a 7 year-old and a 5 year-old. Again, unwillingly, money became the main focus of this difficult time in my life. I needed it to be able to provide the life my kids deserved and 5-year legal battle ensued. It was as you might imagine, exhausting, stressful and depressing. When things finally got settled and finalized, at that time in my mind, I felt emotionally strong enough to begin dating and found myself joining a popular dating website in 2014 at the age of 44. It did not go well. Looking back, who I am now would have never allowed 44 year old me to become a victim of online dating fraud. I lost 10's of thousands of dollars. To add insult to injury, it was money that I did not even have - I went and borrowed it. The shame, guilt and embarrassment that I felt led me to contemplate ending my life because I knew I was worth more money dead than alive. I told NO ONE about this for FOUR YEARS. Not my sisters, not my parents, not my best friends, and certainly not my kids. How could an intelligent, educated, well respected high school phyical education teacher, guidance counsellor and coach fall for such a thing? I felt like I was the most stupid person on the planet and without a doubt this was the loneliest and most isolating time of my life. Despite the trauma I was experiencing at the time, I hid it incredibly well. Nobody had a clue. I was blinded and looking back now, I was clearly not in the right frame of mind to begin dating again. I was emotionally vulnerable because of my marriage ending and its ensuing legal battle and this person knew exactly what to say to play with and exploit my mental and emotional state.

That sad, crazy but true story brings me to today! I now share a home with my parents (and kids when they are home)and I am slowly chipping away at this debt I have had to take on because of fraud. Through digital marketing and the Roadmap to Riches course, my goal is to be debt-free and create the retirement of my dreams, to finally have the financial means to support my young adult kids in pursuing their own hopes and dreams and be able to give back to the people I love and care about and to also help those in my community and beyond. After all these years, I am finally taking back control of my money story - facing it head on and using the Roadmap to Riches to do it! This course has been pivotal in helping to heal my money trauma in so many ways. I now know that it is not too late for me to re-write my money story despite being in my early 50's. I have learned so many new and easily transferable skills! I am so very grateful for the journey that led me here and I am so excited for what is to come. What is even more exciting is knowing that I can help others to do the same - for me, this is the most rewarding part and it's a win/win for everyone!
